日本法制史学の泰斗、石井良助氏（1907～1993)が蒐集した法制史に関する典籍・文書類、そのほか全国各地の地方・町方文書、幕府資料、行政資料。代表的な資料群に、四谷塩町一丁目（現・新宿区本塩町）において作成された文書群計87点がある。一つの町の資料群としては比較的よくまとまったもので、江戸末期を中心とする人別帳、町入用帳、御触留などで構成される。このほかにも、雉子町（現・千代田区神田司町二丁目辺り）の名主斎藤月岑が編纂した町触集の写本「類聚撰要」全51巻が上げられる。弘化2年(1845）12月に名主木村定次郎、普勝伊兵衛が書き写したもので、第1巻には天保2年（1831)12月付けの凡例がある。
なお、石井良助氏旧蔵の主だった古文書類は当館のほか、専修大学図書館などにも所蔵されている。

Classical books and documents on legal history, as well as documents on local and townspeople nationwide and materials on the shogunate and the administration assembled by Ishii Ryōsuke (1907–1993), an authority on Japanese legal history. The representative material groups have a group of eighty-seven documents in total created at Yotsuyashiochō 1 Chōme (present-day Honshiochō, Shinjukuku). The collection is relatively well-organized for a material group of one town and is composed of jimbetsuchō (census registers), machinyūyōchō (town account books), and ofuredome (written proclamations), mainly at the end of the Edo period. Additionally, other materials include “Ruijusenyō,” fifty-one volumes in total, hand-copied books of the town proclamation collection compiled by Saitō Gesshin, the headman of Kijichō (present-day around Kandatsukasachō 2 Chōme, Chiyodaku). It was copied down by the headmen Kimura Sadajirō and Fukatsu Ihei in the twelfth month of Kōka 2 (1845), which volume one contains explanatory notes as of the twelfth month of Tempō 2 (1831).
Furthermore, the main old documents formerly owned by Ishii Ryōsuke are housed in such as the library of the Senshū University in addition to the Edo-Tokyo Museum.
