兵庫県在住の赤木清士氏(1932～2019)が収集した、日本の科学技術黎明期コレクション。照明器具や生活用具を始め、人力車や自転車等の乗物、医療器具など多様な資料から成る。とくに、明治初期の写真機材やガラス原版など映像音響器具関連資料が出色であり、「旧江戸城ガラス原板」「壬申検査関係ステレオ写真ガラス原板」は国指定重要文化財となっている。
赤木コレクションは、全体のうち約半数が東京都江戸東京博物館に収蔵され、他はトヨタ自動車株式会社が収集、「トヨタコレクション」となっている。

A collection consisting of materials during the dawning era of science and technology in Japan assembled by Akagi Kiyoshi (1932–2019), who resided in Hyōgo Prefecture. It is comprised of diverse materials, including lighting equipment, living tools, and vehicles such as rickshaw and bicycles, as well as medical equipment. Specifically, materials related to video and audio equipment such as photographic equipment and glass plates in the early Meiji era are remarkable. In addition, the “Edo Castle” series and the “Stereo Photograph Glass Plates Related to Jinshin Survey” series are Important Cultural Properties designated by the Japanese government.
About half of the Akagi Kiyoshi Collection is housed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum, while the rest was assembled by Toyota Motor Corporation and now is the “Toyota Collection.”
